If there is “Machined Surface Required” or “Specific Surface Roughness” mentioned on the drawing for the Turning Shafts, Roller, Pistons or Pins as the upper picture, then additional turning shall be done to whole length on raw material surfaces which increase machining costs.
If the products allow raw material surface roughness, then removing those notation as the bottom picture could reduce machining costs.
