Lathe Products such as Pistons, Shafts or Pins have some corners which requires “Radius” shape as the upper picture. Producing “Radius” corners need to maintain machining tools to have right radial shape otherwise Corners might be Chamfered shape.
Changing the corner shape from Radius to “Chamfer” as the lower pictures, then chamfer can be made even if machining tool is worn which means less maintenance is required and that leads management costs reduction.
